Other uses of genuine silver leaf
Silver leaf is applied in interior design (decorating walls), exterior renovation such as domes in churches, figurines, furniture restorations, signage, signboards, photo frames, mirrors, scrapbooking, and other craftwork.
Genuine, not imitation silver leaf
Genuine Silver Metal Leaf is made with 100% pure silver. There are other metal leaves out on the market that are called “silverleaf” because of their appearance, but they are in fact aluminum, and have ZERO silver in them. The industrial term for these leaves is called imitation silver leaf. These leaves are used for mass production of furniture and frames. The aluminum leaf has less luster, and has a “whiter” metallic look than the genuine silver—genuine silver has a warmer color tone.
Please note that genuine silver will change color over time. So if one is to use this product, it is necessary to varnish with a protective coating. Artists sometimes prefer the oxidized effects of the leaf and use it as part of its design.
Larger silver leaf sheets than typical
Please also note that our leaves are industrial class silver sheets. The sizes are almost 4 times as large as other leaf sheets you see on the internet (usually their size is 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ but it is claimed to be approximately 2″ x 2″).

Yes, these are edible grade and I used tiny pieces on a wedding cake. Looked absolutely stunning and the bride loved it. Obviously you use very small amounts for food but the effect is so luxurious.

I’ve been doing gilding work for about 3 years now and this is solid quality for the price. It’s not professional grade like the expensive Italian stuff, but for home projects and craft work it’s more than adequate. The sheets are a decent size and while they’re fragile, that’s just the nature of metal leaf. I used it on a set of decorative boxes for my daughter’s wedding and they came out beautifully. Just make sure you have proper adhesive and a soft brush for application.

I’ll be honest, my first attempt was a disaster. These flakes are incredibly thin and static-y, so they stick to everything including your fingers. But I tried again with a soft brush and some adhesive sizing, and WOW. The mirror I was decorating looks like it cost hundreds of dollars. You absolutely need to take your time with this product. It’s not for rushed projects or beginners who haven’t watched tutorials first.

I’ve used more expensive leaf before and honestly can’t tell much difference. This worked great on my bookshelf restoration project. The sheets stick well with proper adhesive and the coverage is good – you don’t need to layer multiple sheets to get a solid silver appearance. My only minor complaint is that the sheets aren’t perfectly uniform in thickness, so some areas look slightly different than others, but you really have to look close to notice. For a DIY home project this is perfect.
