Product Information

Genuine Silver leaf. The silver leaf is beaten mechanically by machines through thousands of repetitions, mauling it to a thin layer of silver.

Other uses of genuine silver leaf

Silver leaf is applied in interior design (decorating walls), exterior renovation such as domes in churches, figurines, furniture restorations, signage, signboards, photo frames, mirrors, scrapbooking, and other craftwork.

Genuine, not imitation silver leaf

Genuine Silver Metal Leaf is made with 100% pure silver. There are other metal leaves out on the market that are called “silver leaf” because of their appearance, but they are in fact aluminum, and have ZERO silver in them. The industrial term for these leaves is called imitation silver leaf. These leaves are used for mass production of furniture and frames. The aluminum leaf has less luster, and has a “whiter” metallic look than the genuine silver—genuine silver has a warmer color tone.

Please note that genuine silver will change color over time. So if one is to use this product, it is necessary to varnish with a protective coating. Artists sometimes prefer the oxidized effects of the leaf and use it as part of its design.

Larger silver leaf sheets than typical

Please also note that our leaves are industrial class silver sheets. The sizes are almost 4 times as large as other leaf sheets you see on the internet (usually their size is 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ but it is claimed to be approximately 2″ x 2″).

  1. Susan Miller –

Couldn’t get even one sheet to apply without it disintegrating. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but very frustrated.

  2. Jessica Rodriguez –

I’ve been doing bookbinding for about three years now and this silver leaf has become my go-to. The patent backing makes it so much easier to handle than loose leaf – I used to waste so much material! I use it mostly for edge gilding and decorative corner pieces on leather journals. The only minor thing is that sometimes the sheets have tiny wrinkles, but honestly it doesn’t affect the final result at all. For the price point, this is excellent quality and I’ve already ordered my third pack.

  3. Lisa M. –

Gorgeous shine but definitely takes practice to apply without tearing.

  4. Daniel –

Had an issue with my order and the seller resolved it immediately. The silver leaf itself is good quality.

  5. Mike T. –

Good product, does what it’s supposed to do.

  6. Rachel Green –

So I’m pretty new to gilding and decided to start with some simple picture frame projects around the house. The silver leaf itself seems nice – it’s shiny and looks expensive when it’s on there. My problem is I think I’m not patient enough with letting the adhesive get tacky? I used the Speedball stuff and half the time it works great, half the time it just slides around or doesn’t stick. My mom who does this kind of thing all the time says it’s definitely user error on my part. I’m going to watch some more YouTube tutorials and try again because when it works, it really does look fantastic.

  7. Rachel Green –

No issues. Does what it’s supposed to do.

  8. Mike Chen –

Worked great in my epoxy resin coasters. Beautiful effect.

  9. Nicole P. –

I refinish furniture as a side business and while this isn’t the highest end leaf I’ve used, it’s perfectly acceptable for most projects. The sheets are consistent in thickness and the packaging keeps them protected during shipping. I mostly use it for accent details rather than covering large areas because you do go through it pretty quickly. It adheres well with standard gilding adhesive and buffs up nicely. My only real complaint is that the sheets are slightly smaller than some other brands I’ve used, but that’s a minor issue.

  10. Daniel –

Not for rushing but the results are worth it if you go slow.
