23.5kt Genuine Gold leaf. The gold leaf is beaten mechanically by machines through thousands of repetitions, mauling it to a thin layer of gold.
Other uses of genuine gold leaf
Gold leaf is applied in interior design (decorating walls), exterior renovation such as domes in churches, figurines, furniture restorations, signage, signboards, photo frames, scrapbooking, and other craftwork.
Genuine, not imitation gold leaf
NOTE!! 23.5kt Gold has 23.5kt of Genuine Gold in the metal leaf. There are other metal leaves out on the market that are called “Goldleaf” because of their appearance, but they are in fact a copper zinc alloy, and have ZERO gold in them. The industrial term for these leaves is called imitation gold leaf, or composition leaf. These leaves are used for mass production of furniture and frames. However, they will oxidize and change color over time. You can test if they are composition leaf if you spray water or put vinegar on their raw surface (i.e. prior to putting on varnish or coatings).
Larger gold leaf sheets than typical
Please also note that our leaves are industrial class gold sheets. The sizes are almost 4 times as large as other gold leaf sheets you see on the internet (usually their size is 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ but it is claimed to be approximately 2″ x 2″).

I’m so happy with how my picture frames turned out! The gold is a lovely warm tone and really elevates the look. My advice is to definitely practice on something you don’t care about first because there’s a learning curve with getting the adhesive right and not wasting sheets. I watched a couple tutorials on YouTube which helped a lot. Once I got the hang of it, the application was pretty straightforward and I finished 8 frames in one afternoon.

I was skeptical about cheaper gold leaf but this exceeded my expectations. I used it to accent some wooden letters for my daughter’s nursery and they look like I spent way more than I did. The sheets are definitely fragile so handle them carefully and don’t try to work near a fan or open window. I also found that using a soft brush to press down the leaf worked better than my fingers. Will buy again for future projects!
