18kt Genuine Moon Gold leaf. The gold leaf is beaten mechanically by machines through thousands of repetitions, mauling it to a thin layer of gold. Leaves can be cut to shape—maximizing on usage yielding.
Other uses of genuine gold leaf
Gold leaf is applied in interior design (decorating walls), exterior renovation such as domes in churches, figurines, furniture restorations, signage, signboards, photo frames, scrapbooking, and other craftwork.
Genuine, not imitation gold leaf
NOTE!! 18kt Gold has 18kt of Genuine Gold in the metal leaf. There are other metal leaves out on the market that are called "Goldleaf" because of their appearance, but they are in fact a copper zinc alloy, and have ZERO gold in them. The industrial term for these leaves is called imitation gold leaf, or composition leaf. These leaves are used for mass production of furniture and frames. However, they will oxidize and change color over time. You can test if they are composition leaf if you spray water or put vinegar on their raw surface (i.e. prior to putting on varnish or coatings).
Larger gold leaf sheets than typical
Please also note that our leaves are industrial class gold sheets. The sizes are almost 4 times as large as other gold leaf sheets you see on the internet (usually their size is 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" but it is claimed to be approximately 2" x 2").

I bought this to gild the edges of a custom journal I was making as a gift for my best friend’s wedding. I was worried about messing it up since I’d never worked with gold leaf before, but it was actually much more forgivable than I thought. The sheets are tissue-thin and you do need to be gentle, but even when they crinkled or tore, I could still use the pieces. The final result looks so professional and luxurious. My friend cried when she saw it. The warm gold color photographs beautifully too.

I was nervous about trying gold leafing for the first time, but this product made it surprisingly manageable. I watched a couple YouTube videos first which helped a lot. The gold adheres nicely to the sizing I used and the finished effect on my mirror frame is exactly what I envisioned. A few sheets tore during application but I just used the pieces on smaller areas. Overall really pleased and excited to try more gilding projects now.
